In mid-July I got a call from Arnie Graf, one of our country's most brilliant community organizers. He asked if I could produce a video about a new international campaign called "10% is Enough," aimed at getting banks and/or Congress to put a cap on the crazy interest rates charged on credit cards, payday loans, car title loans, and other forms of legal loansharking.


I had just read Thomas Geoghegan's cover story from Harper's "Infinite Debt: How Unlimited Interest Rates Destroyed the Economy" (itself worth the price of a subscription), so I knew that this campaign was about more that just relieving millions of people struggling with debt -- it's about restoring one of the central pillars of a sound economy.


I told Arnie "yes," and here's the result.
